Summer Fun with Twizzlers!
So where is your favorite road trip destination? Ours is definitely New York City. After living just outside the city for 15 years (and my husband for his whole life) we frequently drive back to visit family and friends and to "play tourist" in the city. There just is no other place on earth like it!
If you're planning a road trip, check out these tips from family travel expert Emily Kaufman, “The Travel Mom” and how to incorporate treats from www.Twizzlers.com:
- Create a boredom bag. Convert a hanging travel cosmetic case into a case full of fun and hang it from the seat back in front of the kids’ seats. Consider creating fun works of art with Twizzlers
Pull ‘n’ Peel Candy before snacking on them! - Take your trip “online.” From GPS systems to phone applications, trips are no longer a navigation nightmare.
- Think through the snacks you pack. Avoid packing snacks that are easy to spill like juice boxes or snacks that melt. Try plastic bottles with sports tops and bring along Twizzlers Candy or Twizzlers Nibs Candy – they are easy to share and don’t melt, making them the perfect car ride treat.
Disclosure: By posting, I am entering a contest for a Twizzlers Landmark Summer promotion prize pack as a member of the Mom Bloggers Club.

Rubbermaid Easy Find Lid Food Storage Container Set - Review and 50% Off Sale at Amazon
My Review: About three months ago I finally got TOTALLY fed up with the huge mess in my food storage/Tupperware cabinet in my kitchen. I decided that something must be done. So - I went through all of the mismatched and differently shaped pieces, threw out those that were damaged or missing lids and put most of the rest aside for my garage sale. I saved a few "must-have" pieces, but that was it. What I did was replace it all with Rubbermaid Easy Find Lid Food Storage Containers.
It was one of the best organizational things I have ever done. All the containers stack so neatly within one another, as do the lids. It is sooo much easier to find a container when I need it and it's even easy for my husband to put pieces away correctly rather than tossing them in the cabinet because he can't figure out where to put them. Besides the 24 piece set, I also bought the Rubbermaid Easy Find Lid Square 14-Cup Food Storage Container, which is great for large batches of things.
The Deal: Right now, Amazon has the Rubbermaid Easy Find Lid 24-Piece Food Storage Container Set on sale 48% off at only $10.47. This is a great deal and a great opportunity for YOU to clean out that messy cabinet in your kitchen!

Easy Way to Spruce Up a Brownie Mix
Today we are getting together with the extended family for a pre-Thanksgiving celebration. I have been a bit under-the-weather this week and haven't been up to preparing food to bring along, so this morning was a last minute rush.
I decided to go with an old standby for "in a pinch" situations. I use a simple boxed brownie mix and prepare it by the instructions on the box except that I add in about 1/2 to 1 cup of chopped up chocolate candy bars. Basically any type will do. Today I used up leftover Halloween candy. Then to make them look more special after they are cooled, you can use a sifter to sprinkle the top with powdered sugar.
Voila! You have a yummy dessert that looks nice and it takes very little effort!

Aloha Friday - What Are You Thankful For?
Today's Aloha Friday question is an easy one for me. The question is "What are You Thankful For?" I am very thankful for my wonderful husband who left a job he loved and an area he lived in all his life to move with me to my home state of Minnesota. I'm also thankful that while our finances are in no way close to being in order, we at least have a paid-for home and have the security of always having a place to live. I'm also thankful for all the rest of my family and especially my wonderful year-and-a-half-old nephew - - he is the most special little one ever. Gee, I am thankful for a lot more....thanks Kailani for making me think about it today!
